My tips would to anyone just starting out.
Tips:
*Catch sales and use coupons. Build your stash with bargains.
*Follow the major craft manufacturers on Facebook and Instagram to get inspiration from their design team.
*Follow sketch sites/blogs and etc to get ideas on constructing your designs
*Try different adhesives to see which one you like best. Just don't use glue sticks. Your design will not look good a year from creating it.
*Just relax and have fun.
*Go to craft crops, events, expos, and conventions. You get to see demos, take classes, do make and takes, and learn from other crafters.
*Organize your craft supplies by theme. Make your life easy.
